Filmmaker & Creator of Food Talkies, Andrew Gooi, shares the story behind the dish he grew up loving.

Introduced to him by his grandmother, the Pig Trotter Vinegar Soup is a Chinese dish combining sweet & sour flavors. Andrew returns to his hometown in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to capture his grandmother's story as she shares this dish with us.

'Pig Trotter Vinegar Soup' Recipe:
1/2 lb Pig Trotter
1/2 Cup Black Vinegar
1/2 Cup Brown Rock Sugar
1 1/2 Cup Water
1 Ginger, Sliced
6-8 Cloves Garlic, Smashed
1 Tbsp Sesame Oil
First, simmer the trotter for 2-3 minutes. Remove and brown in a pot over medium heat. Add sesame oil, sliced ginger and smashed garlic. Stir with trotter for 4-5 minutes. Pour in black vinegar and water. Finally, add the rock sugar and simmer soup for 15-20 minutes.
